Unique to Sicily and oh so beautiful and perfect. We ordered a kitchen island with a lava rock table top. The picture painted on the top was hand painted with the town we live. Motta with its hills, villas, and castle. The mountain with the snow and steam.... we couldn't ask for anything better. We designed it ourselves and a wonderful man, Mario, made it by hand. It took twice as long as it was supposed to but Mario kept building it to spite two broken arms. The view we have everyday right outside of our home we can now carry with us where ever the navy takes us.
With limited kitchen space the extra shelves and baskets are wonderful...
The hand made iron work is wonderful... Mario knows what he is doing...

Its Perfecto! Thank you to our Moms who helped pitch in and make it a wonderful christmas gift. We have wanted one for so long but never had the money to invest in it and now... we have it and are so excited!

My husband and I were at Sigonella from 2002 to 2004. We also have one of the beautiful tables from Mario! =) I can't locate his website anymore, and I need to find a current dollar value for our table, for insurance purposes, before we move to another new duty station again next week. I am wondering if you have any idea how I can contact Mario's Iron Works, since you have had much more recent dealings with his shop?
