Martial Arts in Sigonella

First let me say that we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New year. Ours was great and was spent together having quiet family time since Robert took the day off of work. It was our first holiday together since we moved here!

When we first moved here I attempted to begin a kids martial arts class in Sigonella. MWR was hard to convince and all these rules and regulations came about and I could not start. A few months ago MWR called me and it started to get rolling. This week was my first week teaching. I have two classes going right now in the Marinai Recreational Center on the housing base where we live. One is full with a waiting list (younger children) and one (older children) is half full with many anticipating to join in February. I am also getting many people to beg me to open a class in Mineo as well! Everyone is going nuts over Karate and its the new craze. I am getting overwhelmed with the amout of people begging me to fit just their one more kid in the class or to just take their kid that is not the right age yet, or to give their child private lessons, its amazing! I have to go early before class for the eager little ones who want to practice before class and stay late to talk to parents who want to endlessly thank me!

Tonight AFN or cable station showed up, did an interview with me and video taped the kids and I doing class! It will be on Next week which I will make sure to send the link to their website which will contain the news clip! There is also rumor that the newspaper wants to do a news article and take pictures! I am overwhelmed.....
